Introduction of Motor IP Grade :The Meaning of First Number

Motor IP (INGRESS PROTECTION) grade system is drafted by IEC (INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSION ).IP grade is composed of two numbers, the first number represents for anti-invasion grade of external objects and dust, the second the number shows that the sealing degree of anti- invasion of moisture and water, if the number is greater, the degree of protection will be higher.

0: no special protection

1: it can prevent external objects with solid diameter larger than 50 mm entering into the casing. 

2: it can prevent external objects with solid diameter larger than12 mm entering into the casing. 

3: it can prevent external objects with solid diameter larger than 2.5 mm entering into the casing. 

4: it can prevent external objects with solid diameter larger than 1 mm entering into the casing. 

5: protection against dust, it can prevent dust from entering to affect the normal operation of the product, and prevent dust contacting the inner casing or parts.

6: sealing against dust, it can completely prevent dust from entering into the casing and prevent the dust contacting the inner casing or parts.

Maintenance Tips of Conveyor Belt

Maintenance Tips of Conveyor Belt

In the use and storage of conveyor belt, it should kept clean, avoid direct sunlight or exposed to rain and snow, prevent contact with acid, alkaline, oil, organic solvent and other substances, and also located at least one meter away from heating device. The temperature of the storage should maintained at between 18-40 ℃ , the relative humidity should maintained between 50-80℃.In the storage period, conveyor belt should be placed in rolls, but not folding; in the placement, it should turn-over once in every seasons. Different types and standards layers number of conveyor belt should not be connected together while used, the best connection is used the bonded process. Type, structure, standard, number of layers for conveyor belt should be used according to the reasonable choice.

Conveyor belt operating speed generally not more than 2.5 m/s. For large lump size, material with large abrasiveness and fixed unloading device should use low velocity. The relationship between driving pulley diameter and coating layer of conveyor belt, supporting of driving and bend pulley and also requirement for trough angle of idler roller should according to the design specification of conveyor belt, reasonable selection. Direction of feeding should along the operating direction of the conveyor belt, use chute in order to minimize the impact of material fall on receiving belt, reduce material’s free fall distance. The feeding section of conveyor belt should shortened the spacing of idler and use absorber idler as discharge section. The belt should use striker plate with moderately soft, to avoid the rigid striker plate will scrape the belt surface of conveyor belt.

Five Maintenance Tips for Belt Conveyor Roller

Belt conveyor roller is an important part for belt conveyor. It accounts for 35% of a belt conveyor total cost and bears more than 70% of the resistance. So the maintenance of conveyor roller is particularly important. Today PK Machinery will share some maintenance tips with you:

1. Generally speaking, the roller normal service life is more than 20000 h and it doesn’t need maintain. But according to application place and load capacity, we should formulate a maintenance date correspondingly, as well as cleaning, adding grease and maintenance etc. For the rollers which with abnormal sound or rollers don’t rotate, please to replace timely.
2. When replace the bearing, keep the bearing opening outward, spare proper clearance when put the bearings into the roller.
3. The labyrinth seals should adopt original accessories, put the seals into the roller respectively when assembly.

4. During operation, the rollers should be protected from heavy items hitting the tube.
5. In order to ensure the roller sealing performance and using performance, free disassembly roller is prohibited.

Installation and Notes of Belt Conveyor Anti-rain Cover

1) Open cover and fixed cover are manufactured with the galvanized steel plate or the colorized coating steel plate. Generally ,there will be 1 piece of open cover and 7 pieces of fixed covers installed every 8 pieces covers, the 2 kinds covers also can be installed side by side alternately ( it also can be matched according to customer’s requirement). At first, fasten the fixed conveyor with drilling rivets and based on the line which is upward 30mm from the top of Z type steel, fix a mounting hole every 450mm, every piece of cover overlaps 2 wave crests. Open cover overlaps above the fixed covers in order to open conveniently.

2) The Z type steel or the connection angle iron which is the main support frame of the conveyor cover, the length is equal to the length of the installed conveyor cover
The Z type steel or the connection angle iron is welded on the channel steel or the little stiffening angle iron on both sides of the conveyor

3) Install the covers (fixed covers) from one side to another side along the conveyor, during installation, people are not allowed to stand on the covers and no hard beating and hitting is allowed.
4) Mount the fixed covers on the Z type steel with the drilling rivet. The mounting points are not less than 4 on every piece.

5) 1 piece of observation window cover could be installed every 10 pieces for convenient checking and inspecting. It is decided by users.

6) Salient point cover is only used for the salient points of the convex-concave of the conveyor. Deviation switch cover is only used for covering the deviation switch. These 2 kinds covers also can overlap the fixed covers.

4. Note

1) During the installation, please handle the anti-rain cover carefully and avoid scratching.

2) After installing the accessories, please clean the surface and paint the scratched points again.

 According to the location of deviation switch, please install and center the drilled cover, then put the sealing strip on the cover open point flatly according to the height of the switch box cover , then install the switch box cover with 12－Φ5 rivet.

Installation of Open Belt Conveyor Cover

1) installation of handle 
After overlapping the open cover and fixed cover, based on the center line of the cover, the location upward 250mm is the center line used for installing the handle (it can be adjustable according to height of the conveyor support frame). Put the handle straightly and drilling a 4－Φ5 hole, then fasten with the rivets.

2) installation of hinge 
Adjust one side of the cover up higher from the top of the Z type steel (angle iron) 5mm, inward 140mm from the front and back sides of the cover, and upward 27mm is the location of the hinge, then drill holes Φ5 and fasten with the rivet. Others holes are also fastened with the rivets. 

3) installation of the lock catch
After installing the hinge, on the other side of the cover, inward 185mm from front and back sides of the cover, then based on the bottom, upward 36mm and 77mm , drill holes Φ5 and fasten the lock with the rivet, next keeping the lock locking( clamp status), and then putting the lock nose on the Z type steel straightly and drilling hole to fasten.

4) installation of the open cover
Overlap the open cover on the bilateral fixed covers. The overlapped length should be the length of 2 pitches of waves, then put the other side of the hinge appressed on the angle iron and drill hole 4－Φ5 with the rivet fastened.

Installation of Belt Conveyor Cover Support Frame

 Belt conveyor cover is applicable to power plant, cement plant, mines and other major factories which is waterproof, dustproof and windproof, it plays a great role in reducing the loss during the process of conveying goods ,making the conveyor belt more safe and reliable in operation and purifying the environment .

As the main support frame of the conveyor cover, the length of Z type steel or the connection angle iron is equal to the length of the installed conveyor cover. Please weld the Z type steel or the connection angle iron on the channel steel or the little stiffening angle iron on both sides of the belt conveyor. If need the stiffening angle iron, at first, weld the stiffening angle iron on both sides of the conveyor, then weld the Z type steel or the connection angle iron on the stiffening angle iron, detailed steps are as following:
 1) first weld the little stiffening angle iron ∟40*40*100*4(just for reference, it also can be indicated by users) every 1.5m or 2 m on both sides of the belt conveyor ( eudipleural ). The height from the intermediate frame to the top of little stiffening angle iron should ≥50mm ( it also can be decided by users).
2) Then weld the Z type steel 30*50*30*(2.0~3.0),( just for reference, it also can be replace by angle iron) and fix it on both sides of the intermediate frame top, the inner size should be 10-20mm bigger than outside size of intermediate frame.
3) After being welded please remove welding slag then paint.

How to Prolong the Lifespan of Vibration Motor

1. Make sure the wiring and insulation work of vibration motor is well done in order to prevent the lack of phase and short circuit .
2. Anchor bolt reinforcement work should be done frequently, take necessary prevention measures, such as using a double nut fastening to ensure vibration motor base and the floor contact well.
3. Attach great importance to the cover sealing of vibration motor, the dust inside the protection cover should be cleaned up frequently.
4. Strengthen the daily maintenance of vibration motor, remove the dust on the motor surface frequently, and reduce the impact on the vibrating motor due to the poor heat dissipation in order to make it work in a good condition.

5. Please pay attention to the symmetry when adjusting the vibration block, the gravity connection centerline of vibration block on both sides should be parallel to axis.
6. Check whether there is crack on motor appearance, all fastening screws and parts are complete and the fixed situation of the motor are in good condition or not.
7. Check whether the ventilation and bearing lubrication condition of vibration motor is normal or not.
8. Pull out the motor axis and check if rotor can rotate freely and whether there is noise during rotation.
9. Check whether the grounding device is reliable or not. 

Selection Method of Conveyor Roller

The choice of roller type, most suitable for a certain application, will be dealt with in the following section but should also take into account other factors such as:

1.The abrasive and corrosive characteristics of the conveyed materials

2.The environmental working conditions of the plant in which the rollers will be installed. 

Abrasive materials such as clay, granite and ferrous minerals may influence the roller choice towards the heaviest series and the choice of a large tube diameter as this result in only a minor contact of the roller surface with the conveyor belt itself. The conveyor transport of corrosive materials such as salt and chemicals requires the chosen rollers to be protected or manufactured from the appropriate materials that are time resistant to the corrosive substance. The rollers may be in steel, covered with several layers of a particular specification of paint, or covered in rubber or in other anti-corrosive materials. Otherwise the rollers may be entirely manufactured from plastic materials that are resistant to corrosion. Environmental conditions where, in particular, dusty conditions prevail (cement, limestone, ash) rollers with the very best sealing systems that offer the highest possible protection are required.

the reasons of choosing Rubber Spring for Vibrating Screen.

1. Rubber spring can be made into different shape and scale. As its compact layout, it can be used space efficiency

2. The rubber spring modulus of elasticity is much smaller than metal and changes with the hardness on a larger scale, so if we change the rubber hardness, then we can make the spring get different hardness. That is to say, the same shape rubber spring, its hardness can be choosing from a certain range. So if we change spring internal layout (change the dimension of the interstitial hole), the hardness of the spring will be changed too.

3. We can describe the stiffness of rubber spring in three directions according to the actual needs. Besides, rubber spring can also accept shear deformation and shear deformation together.

4. The internal friction resistance of rubber spring is much larger than metal spring, so when rubber spring vibrating screen launched parking pass the resonance –area, the amplitudes is much smaller than screw spring vibrating screen. Although rubber spring has many disadvantages, yet its features are very outstanding, so it is still widely used in vibrating devices.

Temperature Effect on Sifter and Countermeasures Analysis

Motor is the most important parts during the machine running, when the most important parts of the motor is burned, we need to re-install the new motor, while the cost is relatively high. Therefore, the temperature also has an impact on the sifter.

(1) Exposure to the sun for long hours, not only make the machine become old, aging, also lead sifter machine temperature too high to work, affecting the efficiency and quality of the screening. If the situation is so serious may also lead to the sifter some parts damaged such as vibrating motor.

(2) Vibrating Screen works in indoors or mine kiln, we should pay attention to the indoor temperature regulation and ventilation, breathability. Ambient temperature is generally not more than 40 degrees to keep a good working environment for vibrating screen.

(3) We can rely on the nearby air to cool the motor, and use a few expansion thermometers measurements placed into the way that the cooling air entered to measure the cooling air temperature. Head of thermometer placed 1 ~ 2m away from the motor, and the thermometer not affected by external radiant heat and air flow. Thermometers should use indexing to 0.2 ℃ or 0.5 ℃, the range is 0 ~ 50 ℃.

Sifter rely on vibration motor to work, motor is the core component of the sifter, if vibrating motor temperature is too high, how to solve it?

Sifter core components is vibration motor, vibration motor insulating materials affected greatly by temperature, high temperature will make the insulation aging and shorten the life of the motor, even cause damage to the insulation.

We can choose appropriate vibration motor to prevent sifter overheating and do not use the too small power motor, which not only affect the screening efficiency make the quality is not up to the screening, but also causes the motor overload running, result in the temperature too high then influence the life of the vibrating screen, so we should consider the production and tolerance of the device when we using sifter.

Prevention of Bearing Damage

Bearing is the essential parts in a vibrating screen. When there is problem with the bearing, the vibrating screen unable to operate as usual. Normally, continuous vibrating of screening surface can cause damage to bearing. How we can prevent the damage of bearing under normal operation of vibrating screen? Let’s us share with you the knowledge. 

The eccentric block may fall down due to long-term operating or abnormal rotation speed of equipment. This all are known as abnormal situation of an operating vibrating screen. This abnormal situation can easily cause bearing abrasion. In this scenario, we need to change the layout of eccentric block regularly to balance the working of equipment. The abnormal rotation speed of bearing will lead to increase of temperature. When there is crashing between bearing and the body of vibrating screen, it will caught on fire. 

Lubricating oil needed to be added regularly on bearing and motor. Inappropriate amount of lubricating oil added can cause abrasion as well. Excessive amount of lubricants added might increase the temperature of lubricants oil and the sealing ring of bearing will be blocked. This scenario can be avoided by regular maintenance and inspection on bearing and vibrating screen. Besides, the lubricant needed to be in clean situation. If there are impurities, the lubricants needed to change immediately. The damage of sealing ring and bearing abrasion affects the bearing operation. When the sealing ring breaks down, we must change it immediately and make adjustment in other parts of vibrating screen.

Common Failure Diagnosis and Troubleshooting of Motorized Pulley part 2

This article will introduce common failure diagnosis and troubleshooting of motorized pulley to you continuously.

5.Oil leakage of junction box (internal driver). 
Troubleshooting method: Check whether the oil level is too high or not. Remove the junction box and tighten the grease seal plug.

6. Big pulley noise.
Troubleshooting method: If noise of newly installed pulley is big, please increase the support rigidity and check the pulley, shaft coupling, motor installation coaxality simultaneously. The method is to remove the pulley from the stand, test run the pulley separately. If the noise becomes smaller, it indicates that the support rigidity needs to be increased.

7.Pulley doesn’t rotate after the backstop pulley is connected to the power supply. 
Troubleshooting method: Power supply sequences have errors, the power supply should be disconnected immediately and change the sequences of power supply in order to get the correct sequences of connection.

8. Pulley is reversed when the backstop pulley is disconnected to the power supply. 
Troubleshooting method: Check if backstop device is fault or wear and tear.

Common Failure Diagnosis and Troubleshooting of Motorized Pulley(1)

The motorized pulley should be checked regularly and eliminated trouble timely. The common failure and troubleshooting of motorized pulley will be introduced as shown as below:

1.The current of motor is low, and the cylindrical body doesn’t rotate.
Troubleshooting method: Motor should be checked regularly to know whether it is normal or not. If motor is normal, it indicates that there might be broken in coupling pin shaft ,after changing the coupling pin shaft and start the machine to prevent the more severe consequences.

2.Oil leakage in pulley ends and coupling rotating parts. 
Troubleshooting method: Tighten the spring coil or replace the grease seal.

3.Oil leakage in end cover. 
Troubleshooting method: Tighten the oil plug and change to grease resistant rubber gasket.

4.Oil leakage in the connection parts of cover and cylinder body. 
Troubleshooting method: Check whether the connecting bolts are loosen or not and check if the ventilation plug and air outlet are blocked, unclogging it or clean it if it is blocked.
